Born in Salamina (Greece), she studied Chemistry at the University of Ioannina (Greece), where she obtained her BSc, MSc, and Ph.D., from the Department of Chemistry. Her Ph.D. Thesis was entitled “Modern analytical methods for the determination of pesticide and pharmaceutical residues in natural waters and sediments”. She joined for a short pre-doctoral stay at the European Union Reference Laboratory - Fruit and Vegetables in Almeria for four months (2018), as well as the Catalan Institute for Water Research in Girona (2013), after receiving funding for mobility research. Her Post-Doctoral research on the target and non-target analysis of a wide array of emerging contaminants in environmental matrices was granted by the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY).
Her research is focused on the development, validation, and application of High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry-based techniques to perform target and non-target approaches for the assessment of the impact of emerging contaminants in environmental, food, and biological matrices. Her expertise also extends to the deployment of advanced tools for the elucidation of transformation products, as well as Advanced Oxidation Processes for water purification, Chemometrics, and Quality Management Systems.
Her publication record counts 27 publications in peer-reviewed international journals with a high impact factor (IF average 8.4), enumerating >600 citations (h-index =13), and 2 chapters in international scientific books.
